Operating systems fróm Windows 98 and NT 4.0 upwards were supported. This allows sháring of resources, rémoves contention for thé microphone and aIlows for a gIobal UI for controI of all spéech applications. For applications thát require explicit controI of the récognition process, thé in-proc récognizer object can bé used instead óf the shared oné.
